The two towers of Tridel<\/a> and Hollyburn Properties<\/a>‘ Westerly Condos<\/a> have progressed significantly on Cordova Avenue in Etobicoke’s Islington Village area. Now both topped off and with cladding installation nearing completion, their cranes have also been removed UrbanToronto\u2019s last update<\/a> in September, 2024. Designed by Kirkor Architects and Planners<\/a>, the 20- and 27-storey residential buildings occupy an irregularly shaped lot on the east side of Cordova between Central Park Roadway and Dundas Street West.<\/p>\n Viewed from north of Dundas Street, we see Westerly 1 (right) and 2 (left), below. Westerly 1\u2019s cladding installation has advanced to the top residential level, featuring a rectilinear grid of white precast panels and window wall, with dark-tinted glazing complete up to approximately the 17th floor. In contrast, Westerly 2 in the distance presents crimped white precast elements and staggered projecting balconies. Construction hoists remain affixed to the west sides of both towers.<\/p>\n Seen from across Cordova Avenue, Westerly 1 showcases its completed structural form with cladding installation nearing the top of the tower. The rectilinear podium levels give way to rounded corners for the tower levels above, where step-backs are visible at the 4th and 12th floors. Cladding and glazing are installed along much of the facade, except next to the hoist. At grade, a green telescopic handler is stationed behind the hoarding.<\/p>\n Looking north, this view of Westerly 1 emphasizes the completed south end of the podium. A layer of blue weatherproofing wraps the edge of the podium roof, where temporary fencing encloses a future outdoor amenity area. The white precast panels include angled crimps that project from the surface at staggered intervals. At the corner, balconies await the completion of glass guard installation.<\/p>\n Meanwhile to the south, a crew member works from an articulating boom lift to install a sharply folded metal canopy above the ground level of Westerly 2. Clad in bronze-toned panels, it projects outward in a sculpted, angular profile. Below, the ground floor features black-framed curtain wall glazing. Overhead, the third and fourth levels cantilever outward, with their undersides defined by crisp slab edges and glass balcony guards.<\/p>\n At the southeast corner, this close-up view captures the sharply faceted bronze-toned canopy above the building’s lobby entrance. The multi-plane geometry is brought together by clean seams. Below, canted white concrete columns support the overhang. Above, the tower\u2019s facade features white precast panels arranged in staggered vertical bands, creating a wave-like articulation across the facade. Corner balconies with glass guards project outward at an angle at the corner, while smaller punched balconies repeat uniformly along the right.<\/p>\n Once complete, Westerly 1 and 2 will stand 68.85m and 87.9m respectively, delivering a combined 612 condominium units.<\/p>\n UrbanToronto will continue to follow progress on this development, but in the meantime, you can learn more about it from our Database file, linked below.
