Nearly a year has passed since August, 2024 when UrbanToronto last updated<\/a> progress on The Spoke<\/a>, on the west side of Symington Avenue, north of the CP Rail corridor in Toronto\u2019s Carlton Village, and in the time since, its 8- and 23-storey towers have topped off. Developed by Tricon Residential<\/a> and designed by TACT Architecture<\/a> with Graziani + Corazza Architects<\/a> as Architect of Record, cladding is nearly complete for both towers.<\/p>\n Looking southwest across Symington Avenue in January, 2025, the 8-storey mid-rise is topped off, while the adjacent 23-storey high-rise has risen beyond the halfway mark. White brick-patterned precast cladding is applied up to level five, paired with aluminum-frame windows. The building terraces down to transition in scale to the neighbouring low-rise homes.\u00a0<\/p>\n Looking northwest in April, 2025, the high-rise building\u2019s residential floors are formed, with initial mechanical penthouse walls and columns visible. The crane rises along its west elevation. Cladding reaches the 14th floor, with partial installation on the 15th.<\/p>\n Captured in May, 2025, this view of the east elevation along Symington Avenue reveals the mid-rise component\u2019s cladding system now in place, the top three levels distinguished by a darker treatment featuring aluminum spandrel panels around windows and louvres.<\/p>\n This southeast-facing view taken in May, 2025 highlights a 4-storey section of the complex that fronts Perth Avenue, with alternating bands of white precast panels and dark grey spandrel elements. The composition uses a grid-based pattern to differentiate vertical window bays. Construction fencing encloses the future landscaped area to the right. Above, cladding continues to progress up the 23-storey tower, reaching level 21, while concrete continues to advance for the mechanical penthouse.<\/p>\n This month, we look south across Kingsley Avenue along the laneway towards the tower. The four-storey section is similarly clad in precast panelling with a running bond brick pattern impressed into it, and a contrasting darker aluminum cladding treatment above. The high-rise is nearly fully clad, with only the top residential floor remaining. The tower\u2019s northeast corner is predominantly glazed. A blue telescopic boom lift is positioned at grade by the garage entrance.<\/p>\n From Symington Avenue, both volumes of The Spoke are seen nearing exterior completion. With the cranes gone, the mid-rise is fully clad with insulation visible up top in preparation for final cladding of the mechanical penthouse, while the high-rise\u2019s mechanical penthouse is mostly formed.<\/p>\n Upon completion, The Spoke will deliver 398 rental units across two buildings measuring 32.6m and 78.65m.<\/p>\n UrbanToronto will continue to follow progress on this development, but in the meantime, you can learn more about it from our Database file with yet more renderings, linked below.
