LEAMINGTON, ONT. \u2014 Caldwell First Nation has announced it has made an equity investment in the Chatham to Lakeshore Transmission Line.<\/p>\n

The investment is made through Caldwell\u2019s business development arm,\u00a0Northwind Business Development LP, as part of a\u00a050-50 First Nation Equity Partnership\u00a0with\u00a0Hydro One Networks Inc. and other Anishnaabe First Nations whose traditional territories are located along the route.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy securing equity in the\u00a0Chatham\u00a0to Lakeshore Transmission Line, we are asserting our rightful place in the energy future of this province,\u201d said\u00a0Chief\u00a0Nikki Van Oirschot in a statement.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis partnership is a testament to what is possible when First Nations are meaningfully included in the economic life of their territories. It\u2019s not just about power \u2014 it\u2019s about empowerment.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hydro One began construction in spring\/summer 2023 on a new double-circuit 230 kilovolt transmission line from the Chatham Switching Station in Chatham-Kent to the\u00a0Lakeshore Switching Station<\/a>\u00a0in Lakeshore.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
