400 King West<\/a> is topping off in Toronto\u2019s Entertainment District, with forming crews now completing work on the mechanical penthouse. Designed by BDP Quadrangle<\/a> for Plaza<\/a>, UrbanToronto last reported on construction progress at the 49-storey mixed-use condo at King and Charlotte streets in April, 2025<\/a>.<\/p>\n In May, 2025, the ground and second floors were enclosed behind a glass curtain wall. Above, the brick-faced-precast cladding is installed as projecting piers. Tinted window wall glazing with dark-grey mullions and spandrel panels enclose the upper podium levels, where inset balcony slabs at the fifth and sixth floors are visible.<\/p>\n Looking southwest in July, 2025, the tower had risen to about 47 storeys. The window wall system, featuring dark glazing and mullions, enclosed the tower up to the 22nd floor, with partial installation underway on the 23rd floor. Vertical white precast concrete fins frame the window bays and are in place as high as the 29th floor. Step-backs on the east elevation are evident at the 7th floor, above the brick podium, and again at the 11th floor, where the projecting white volume defines the mid-rise transition, mirrored by a similar setback on the north face toward the west side.\u00a0<\/p>\n A July close-up shows the 47th floor formed across much of the south elevation, with concrete shear walls and perimeter columns topped by projecting rebar awaiting the final pour on the left-hand side. Decking is in place for the 48th-floor slab. The top of the construction hoist’s mast is just visible climbing the south facade at left, while the luffing crane occupies the centre of the frame behind a concrete boom pump.<\/p>\n In a drone view from this month, the roof slab is being formed above the 49th floor, as work shifts to completing the mechanical penthouse. The uppermost levels, with the penthouse floors beginning at 47 and the mechanical penthouse at 48, feature higher ceiling heights, which will be expressed with copper-toned metal panels and grey spandrel cladding. Below, glazing installation is complete to approximately the 26th floor, while white precast concrete fins rise to about the 35th.<\/p>\n Looking northeast later this month, green weatherproofing remains exposed around some of the balcony recesses. At the southwest corner, the construction hoist rises through an indented volume wrapped in protective tarps. Projecting white balcony slabs are visible across the south elevation.<\/p>\n On the lower floors of the east elevation, floors seven to ten are framed by white vertical fins. Beneath that are three floors of dark glazing, and under that three storeys of bare concrete. The window wall system has advanced to the 27th floor, with a panel on the 28th, and the precast concrete now at the 37th floor.
