Saskatchewan-based Balzer\u2019s Canada Incorporated has broken ground on a solar project as it aims to go net-zero by the end of autumn.<\/p>\n

With the commencement of construction on its new dual-axis solar tracking system, Balzer\u2019s Canada Incorporated (BCI) is on track to achieve net-zero energy operations this fall. The family-owned Saskatchewan-based company dates back to 1937 and provides industrial contracting services, specializing in large-scale construction, fabrication, maintenance and design-build projects.<\/p>\n

Construction is underway to install solar arrays using Mechatron Solar\u2019s M18KD gearless dual-axis tracker at BCI\u2019s corporate office in Emerald Park, Sask. The dual-axis trackers will power the company\u2019s entire 23-acre facility, including its fabrication shops, warehouse and administrative offices. Once operational later this year, the installation will transform BCI\u2019s headquarters into a fully self-sustaining, net-zero energy hub, which the company says will showcase the practical power of advanced solar technology in heavy industrial operations.<\/p>\n

The dual-axis tracker system increases energy yield considerably compared to fixed and fixed-tilt solar panels, since the dual axis allows panels to follow the sun with greater precision.<\/p>\n
