Its boom is extended skyward to assist in dismantling the tower crane, beginning with its counterweights. This setup is used to take down the higher crane piece by piece, lowering mast sections and counterweights to grade where they can be hauled off-site.

<imgx class="image-display_default" src="https://cdn.skyrisecities.com/sites/default/files/images/articles/2025/08/59334/59334-188057.jpg" data-entity-uuid="insert-display_default-0bcdd576-7717-451a-8c16-2f3bfdba1b4e" data-entity-type="file" alt="Daniels on Parliament, Toronto, designed by Superkül with Kirkor Architects Planners as Architect of Record for The Daniels Corporation" title="A distant view looking southeast to the mobile crane positioned beside the south tower to remove the tower crane, image by UrbanToronto Forum contributor Froggy" onclick="photo('https://cdn.skyrisecities.com/sites/default/files/images/articles/2025/08/59334/59334-188057.jpg', true, 'A distant view looking southeast to the mobile crane positioned beside the south tower to remove the tower crane, image by UrbanToronto Forum contributor Froggy'); return false;">A distant view looking southeast to the mobile crane positioned beside the south tower to remove the tower crane, image by UrbanToronto Forum contributor Froggy

Looking northwest, the mobile crane with its black telescopic boom fitted with a red luffing jib can be seen positioned in the foreground. To the right, at the 10-storey mid-rise, a yellow hydraulic mobile crane with its own black telescopic boom is assisting around the east elevation where the construction hoist remains in place. This tandem use of cranes in different manners highlights the logistical complexity of finishing high-rise and mid-rise structures on a tight urban site.

<imgx class="image-display_default" src="https://cdn.skyrisecities.com/sites/default/files/images/articles/2025/08/59334/59334-188058.jpeg" data-entity-uuid="insert-display_default-daae3d82-5b05-4d76-8ace-60ebb380d3d0" data-entity-type="file" alt="Daniels on Parliament, Toronto, designed by Superkül with Kirkor Architects Planners as Architect of Record for The Daniels Corporation" title="Looking northwest to the luffing jib crane and mobile hydraulic crane, image by UrbanToronto Forum contributor skycandy" onclick="photo('https://cdn.skyrisecities.com/sites/default/files/images/articles/2025/08/59334/59334-188058.jpeg', true, 'Looking northwest to the luffing jib crane and mobile hydraulic crane, image by UrbanToronto Forum contributor skycandy'); return false;">Looking northwest to the luffing jib crane and mobile hydraulic crane, image by UrbanToronto Forum contributor skycandy

The mobile crane’s luffing jib continues its work, hoisting the horizontal jib of the tower crane into mid-air for dismantling. Meanwhile, the counter-jib with its concrete counterweights remains temporarily in place at the opposite end of the mast. The operator’s cab and slewing unit, which house the rotation mechanism, are still attached at the tower head and will be removed in subsequent stages. This process signals the completion of heavy lifting operations and clearing the roofline for mechanical equipment installation and finishing trades.

<imgx class="image-display_default" src="https://cdn.skyrisecities.com/sites/default/files/images/articles/2025/08/59334/59334-188060.jpeg" data-entity-uuid="insert-display_default-23a28e2d-4ccf-4b02-b5d5-3c1f5a3dcbcc" data-entity-type="file" alt="Daniels on Parliament, Toronto, designed by Superkül with Kirkor Architects Planners as Architect of Record for The Daniels Corporation" title="The derrick crane hoists the tower crane's jib during dismantling, image by UrbanToronto Forum contributor skycandy" onclick="photo('https://cdn.skyrisecities.com/sites/default/files/images/articles/2025/08/59334/59334-188060.jpeg', true, 'The derrick crane hoists the tower crane's jib during dismantling, image by UrbanToronto Forum contributor skycandy'); return false;">The derrick crane hoists the tower crane’s jib during dismantling, image by UrbanToronto Forum contributor skycandy

In a zoom view, the hoist line is seen suspending the long white lattice jib of the dismantled tower crane, now in mid-air against the nearby skyline.
