TORONTO \u2014 A worker was seriously injured after an incident occurred yesterday at the highrise project in downtown Toronto.<\/p>\n
According to media reports, the worker was injured around 1 p.m. but details about the nature of the incident are scarce, with speculation they may have fallen from a platform.<\/p>\n
The worker is reported to have \u201clife-altering\u201d injuries.<\/p>\n
The One Bloor West project is Canada\u2019s first supertall building, a label reserved for buildings above 300 metres. Once complete, it will stand at 308.6 metres or 85 storeys.<\/p>\n
Tridel Group of Companies was retained as the development manager, construction manager and sales manager in May 2025.<\/p>\n
Deltera, a construction arm of Tridel, issued a statement to the Daily Commercial News (DCN) about the incident.<\/p>\n
\u201cYesterday afternoon, an individual working at the One Bloor West construction site was transported to hospital for further care following an incident onsite. We are relieved to confirm the individual was responsive at the time, and our thoughts are with them and their loved ones as they focus on recovery,\u201d it reads.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe safety and well-being of our employees, tradespeople and everyone on our sites is our highest priority. Our immediate focus is to support those impacted and to co-operate fully with all investigating authorities to help us understand what occurred. We can confirm safety measures and protocols were in place at the time of the incident.<\/p>\n
\u201cDeltera is working closely with the Ministry of Labour as they lead their investigation, and we are also initiating an independent review to fully understand the circumstances surrounding the event.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development did confirm to the DCN it was notified of the incident.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs the investigation is ongoing, we cannot\u00a0comment\u00a0any\u00a0further,\u201d the MOL said.<\/p>\n
