Entitled ‘The State of Housing in the GTA:\u00a0Data, Projects and Policies,’<\/em> this discussion will examine options that the development community of the Greater Toronto Area \u2014 an area continuing to face a housing crisis characterized by high costs, low vacancy rates, and a significant shortage of available housing options \u2014 has available to tackle the issue, including new design ideas and policies that can reshape new housing in the region. If not addressed, this crisis risks creating profound economic and social fractures that could undermine the long-term prosperity and livability of Canada’s largest metropolitan area. This webinar presents the latest data on housing and brings together professionals to discuss several approaches. Recognized for his leadership as an architect, Jaegap is an advocate for bolstering timeless projects that contribute to the social, economic, and cultural fabric of the built environment.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Deanna Chorney \u2022 Manager, Policy, Strategic Initiatives, Policy & Analysis, City of Toronto,<\/strong><\/p>\n Deanna Chorney is a project manager in the City of Toronto’s Strategic Initiatives, Policy & Analysis group. \u00a0In her current role she works with a team of housing experts to maintain the City’s supply of existing affordable housing and secure new affordable rental and ownership housing. \u00a0Over the past few years, she has been leading City Planning’s work on getting provincial legislation for inclusionary zoning powers in place and developing a made in Toronto policy framework for inclusionary zoning. \u00a0Deanna has spent much of her career working on housing issues, including working with Shelter, Support & Housing Administration on pre-development work for the revitalization of George Street and Seaton House, a large men’s shelter in the east downtown. \u00a0Deanna has also sat as a volunteer board member with Houselink, a supportive housing provider in Toronto.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Michael Williams \u2022 Managing Partner & Head of Real Estate Development, Hazelview<\/strong><\/p>\n Michael Williams joined Hazelview Investments in February 2020 as Managing Partner, Head of Development. \u00a0In his current role, Michael maintains management oversight of Hazelview\u2019s execution and investment in real estate developments.
