Amid all the excitement about the opening of Biidaasige Park earlier this summer on the west side of Toronto’s Port Lands, memories have faded a bit for a much smaller gem that opened on the east side of the Port Lands last year \u2014 Leslie Lookout Park. Perched at the blunt end of the Ship Channel, this park makes a virtue of its still active industrial port location, giving visitors a chance to watch Great Lakes freighters unload cargo from its sandy beach. In this nighttime image, crushed stone pours out from the Algoma Compass onto a pile at Strada Aggregates, no doubt feeding Toronto’s insatiable growth. Behind, the smokestack of the Hearn Generating Station looms overhead.<\/p>\n
