The crane has been dismantled from atop The James at Scrivener Square<\/a>, while bricklaying continues to advance across the lower podium levels. Rising 23 storeys in Toronto\u2019s Summerhill neighbourhood, the tower is designed by COBE Architects<\/a>, with Graziani + Corazza Architects<\/a> as Architect of Record, for Tricon Residential<\/a> and Diamond Corp<\/a>. Positioned across from the landmark Summerhill LCBO in the former North Toronto station, whose clock tower remains a defining local landmark, the tower\u2019s cladding has steadily reshaped the area since UrbanToronto\u2019s last update in February, 2025<\/a>.<\/p>\n Looking southeast in August, 2025 \u2014 mid-month above before the crane came down, and late-month below after the removal \u2014 the facade is largely in place along the north and west elevations. The podium\u2019s hand-laid brick cladding wraps two to four storeys in stepped sections, contrasting with the white precast framing and curtain wall glazing that define the tower above. Site fencing and branded hoarding line the perimeter, while a telescopic boom lift is stationed at grade, providing access for crews to finish detailing along the base.<\/p>\n Early this month, we look east across Yonge Street to the foodstuffs retailers collectively known as the “five thieves” behind which The James rises. Behind the shops that set the local brick vernacular that The James is meaning to complement, scaffolding can be seen at the sixth and seventh floors for bricklaying that will define the new building’s upper podium levels along this elevation.\u00a0<\/p>\n Looking northeast from Yonge and Price streets, extensive scaffolds span the southwest corner, with a section wrapped in green safety netting as crews advance the brickwork. Blue and white weatherproofing is applied to much of the unfinished exterior walls across the lower levels.
