Kennedy Memorial Stadium as the Washington, D.C., City Council gave final <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.commanders.com\/news\/d-c-council-gives-final-approval-for-rfk-stadium-project\" target=\"_blank\"><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>approval to the project<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span><span><span><span><span><span> on Sept. 17, according to a statement from the franchise. The <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.clevelandbrowns.com\/news\/haslam-sports-group-details-key-benefits-of-proposed-enclosed-huntington-bank-field\" target=\"_blank\"><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>stadium will be enclosed<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span><span><span><span><span><span>, according to a March 18 news release from the franchise, and will anchor a mixed-use development. It will be able to <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cleveland.com\/news\/2025\/06\/16-questions-answered-about-the-new-browns-stadium-in-brook-park.html#:~:text=What%20will%20be%20the%20seating,current%20Browns%20stadium%20is%2067%2C431.\" target=\"_blank\"><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>fit 67,500 people<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span><span><span><span><span><span> for games, but configured to hold 75,000 for concerts, according to Cleveland.com.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span>The Ohio DOT originally rejected the permit on Aug. 1 because of concerns regarding the stadium\u2019s height, AP News reported, which Haslem Sports Group, a company founded by the Browns\u2019 ownership, appealed. The transportation department eventually waived the height restriction.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span>Overall, the Browns will pay $1.2 billion for construction and will receive $600 million from the state, and the franchise hopes to fill the gap after discussions with Brook Park officials, per AP News. The Tennessee Builders\u2019 Alliance, a JV of Turner Construction, AECOM Hunt, Polk &amp; Associates Construction and ICF Builders &amp; Consultants, broke ground on the project in Sept. 2024.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span>The stadium is being built with the largest commitment of public funding for an NFL stadium, with $1.2 billion combined in state and local bonds, more than half of the $2.1 billion total, per AP News.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span>The building has a <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tennesseetitans.com\/new-stadium\/info\" target=\"_blank\"><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>planned capacity of approximately 60,000<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span><span><span><span><span><span> and is slated to open in 2027, according to the Titans.
