MONTREAL \u2014 Contrecoeur Terminal Constructors General Partnership, which is comprised of Aecon (40 per cent) and Pomerleau (60 per cent), has reached financial close on a design-build contract with the Montreal Port Authority for the Port of Montreal Expansion in-water works project in Contrecoeur, Qu\u00e9.<\/p>\n
According to a release, the contract was finalized under a progressive design-build approach and is valued at $609 million.<\/p>\n
The scope of work includes preparatory work, dredging, the construction of dock infrastructure, quay walls, return walls and auxiliary activities. Preparatory work will now begin, with construction expected in 2026.<\/p>\n
Completion is scheduled for 2030.<\/p>\n
The Contrecoeur terminal is part of the largest container port in Eastern Canada. The terminal will connect to major rail and highway networks.<\/p>\n
Prime Minister Mark Carney included the port expansion in his government\u2019s\u00a0list of five nation-building projects to be fast-tracked<\/a>\u00a0under new legislation.<\/p>\n The port wants to increase its capacity by expanding the Contrec\u0153ur terminal to eventually handle an estimated 1.5 million containers annually.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
