More than 200 golfers took part in PCL Construction\u2019s second annual charity golf tournament, raising funds to fight hunger in Edmonton.<\/p>\n

PCL Construction\u2019s second annual charity golf tournament, Tee Off Against Hunger, was a resounding success, raising $250,000 in support of Edmonton\u2019s Food Bank. The event, held at The Quarry Edmonton in September, was supported by more than 125 sponsors, 216 golfers and a dedicated team of volunteers.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis tournament is about coming together as a community to make a real difference,\u201d said Jason Portas, vice-president and district manager at PCL Edmonton. \u201cWe are incredibly grateful to our industry partners, clients, and friends who showed up with generosity and heart. Their support helps ensure that families in our city have access to the food and resources they need.\u201d<\/p>\n

The company, and many of those involved on the organizing committee, serving as volunteers and sponsoring the event have deep roots in the Edmonton community, and were struck by the generosity of those involved.<\/p>\n

\u201cAttending events like this always humbles me, as they raise not only awareness but also the funds that make our work possible,\u201d said Tamisan Bencz-Knight, manager of strategic relationships and partnerships with Edmonton\u2019s Food Bank. \u201cI had an idea of what the donation might be, but the magnitude of the final announcement left me overwhelmed.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis tournament was an incredible opportunity to connect with friends and our trade partners, all while supporting an important cause. It\u2019s always inspiring to see our industry connect with the community to make a real impact. JATEC is proud to take part in such a great event,\u201d added Marco Almeida, chief business operations officer with JATEC Electric, the tournament\u2019s Distinguished Donor.<\/p>\n

Proceeds from the tournament will go directly to Edmonton\u2019s Food Bank, which continues to serve over 40,000 households each month.<\/p>\n
