The project, due to start construction in 2027, will see the junction fully signalised, widened, and upgraded to handle future growth in traffic volumes along the A350 corridor between Wiltshire and the South Coast.<\/p>\n
Bidders will first take part in an Early Contractor Involvement phase next spring before main works begin, subject to Department for Transport approval of the full business case.<\/p>\n
The job will involve widening the motorway bridges from two to three lanes, upgrading approaches, and removing several nearby laybys.<\/p>\n
Funding has been secured through the Government\u2019s Major Road Network programme, with the scheme identified as a regional priority by the Western Gateway sub-national Transport Body.<\/p>\n
Wiltshire Council said the works will \u201cmaximise and optimise capacity of the junction within the bounds of the existing highway\u201d and avoid piecemeal upgrades over coming years.<\/p>\n
Tender submissions close on 19 December 2025, with award expected in March 2026.<\/p>\n
