It will replace incumbent maintenance contractor Tarmac in the region covering nearly 10,000km of roads across the county.<\/p>\n
The long-term contract, starting in April 2026, will run for up to 14 years and includes surfacing, bridge maintenance, drainage, grass cutting, and surface dressing works across the network.<\/p>\n
Kier will also back Norfolk\u2019s sustainability and innovation goals through new technology, community engagement, and skills programmes \u2014 including opportunities for care leavers.<\/p>\n
James Birch, managing director for highways at Kier Transportation, said that the deal marked the beginning of a hugely important strategic relationship with the council.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will create local job opportunities, support local SMEs and supply chains, and our service will focus on innovation and working collaboratively to provide a safe, reliable and sustainable highways network for the county,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Cllr Graham Plant, Norfolk\u2019s cabinet member for highways, said Kier\u2019s \u201ccommitment to quality, innovation, sustainability and social value shone through\u201d in its bid.<\/p>\n
