Skilled Trades Ontario has expanded on-site certification exam delivery to all training delivery agents that offer a final level of in-class apprenticeship training.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis expansion marks another important milestone in our work to modernize and improve Ontario\u2019s apprenticeship system,\u201d said Candice White, CEO of Skilled Trades Ontario. \u201cBy bringing exams directly to where apprentices train, we\u2019re removing barriers, reducing wait times, and helping more skilled trades professionals get certified and into the workforce faster.\u201d<\/p>\n
This expansion builds on a successful pilot launched under the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development, which began with 31 TDA locations across the province. Since assuming responsibility for exam administration on April 2, Skilled Trades Ontario has broadened on-site delivery to 54 TDA locations. The program is being made permanent and will be available to all TDAs who are authorized to provide final level training\u2014 over 100 locations across Ontario \u2014 ensuring that eligible apprentices can write their final certification exams directly at their training location.<\/p>\n
\u201cSkilled trades workers are essential to building Ontario\u2019s future. We\u2019re helping apprentices reach certification faster and with fewer barriers,\u201d said David Piccini, Minister of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development. \u201cThis investment gives apprentices more flexibility to get the training they need and delivers more certified workers ready to take on the jobs that keep our economy growing.\u201d<\/p>\n
