The Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS) and the Institut de recherche Robert-Sauv\u00e9 en sant\u00e9 et en s\u00e9curit\u00e9 du travail (IRSST) have announced they have signed a partnership framework agreement aimed at strengthening their scientific collaboration in their efforts to serve the world of work. The agreement, signed for a period of five years, formalizes a mutual determination to mobilize scientific knowledge for more effective prevention of work-related accidents and occupational diseases.<\/p>\n
The key commitments include the following:<\/p>\n

- Annual meetings<\/strong>: The two organizations will hold annual meetings to define the guidelines for joint projects and review scientific activities, knowledge dissemination and mobilization strategies, communications, and research projects and their funding.<\/li>\n
- Specific agreements<\/strong>: Depending on needs, targeted agreements could be established to manage specific projects. They will spell out each party\u2019s responsibilities, financial terms, schedules and intellectual property rights.<\/li>\n
- Joint activities<\/strong>: The collaborations could also include the exchange of scientific information; participation in committees and working groups; organization of training sessions and seminars, conferences and lectures; and joint publication of results and tools, as well as the exchange of personnel.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
\u201cThis agreement reinforces the pan-Canadian cooperation that is essential to advancing occupational health and safety research. It will enable us to pool our expertise, develop innovative solutions and better address the realities and specific needs of workplaces,\u201d explained Lyne Sauvageau, president and CEO of IRSST.<\/p>\n
