THOMAS, ONT.- Volkswagen\u2019s PowerCo Canada is marking a \u201cpivotal\u201d milestone at its<\/span><a rel=\"noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/canada.constructconnect.com\/dcn\/news\/projects\/2023\/10\/volkswagen-ev-battery-plant-charged-up-for-construction\" target=\"_blank\"><span data-contrast=\"none\"> St. Thomas gigafactory project<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> with the start of construction on three major buildings.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">With contracts awarded to two Ontario-based companies, concrete pouring is officially underway at the $7 billion EV manufacturing facility, laying the foundation for the 350-acre industrial site.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Magil Construction Canada Inc. is leading the foundational work for the three buildings, which involves over 500,000 square feet of formwork, more than 32,000 cubic metres of concrete, and approximately 4,850 metric tonnes of rebar.
