Underscoring its commitment to community support, Calgary-based construction firm BUILD IT recently completed an $8.9 million expansion and accessibility project at Camp Kindle, a retreat that supports children and families affected by cancer.

The project will allow the camp to expand its program capacity and improve accessibility. The expansion includes a three-level multi-purpose facility with arts, teaching and wellness spaces; a staff residence to support year-round operations; new indoor and outdoor program areas; and accessibility upgrades throughout the site to better serve children with mobility challenges. Future phases will introduce a wheelchair-accessible treehouse village in the forest.

“This project came to life through true partnership and collaboration. With the support of Camp Kindle, incredible trade partners, and community donors, we were able to overcome challenges big and small to make this vision a reality,” stated Andrew Lobas, partner at BUILD IT. “Always keeping the kids at the heart of our mission, this accessibility project is about more than construction; it’s about creating a space where children facing cancer can focus on healing, joy and simply being kids. Knowing that our efforts will brighten their time at camp for years to come is something we’re truly honoured to be part of.”

For over 30 years, Kids Cancer Care has supported Alberta families facing childhood cancer with programs that restore spirits and rebuild lives including operating Camp Kindle. While more than 80 percent of Canadian children now survive cancer, nearly all face chronic or long-term health challenges. The Camp Kindle expansion ensures more families can benefit from accessible facilities that foster joy, resilience and community.

www.buildit.ca

www.kidscancercare.ab.ca

[ad_2]

This article was originally posted at Source link

[ad_1] Calgary-based construction firm expands camp retreat for children and families affected by cancer.
