Since UrbanToronto\u2019s last update in April, 2025<\/a> when 315 Spadina Avenue<\/a> had just risen to its mid-rise levels, the 14-storey rental tower now stands topped off within Toronto\u2019s Chinatown area. Replacing a row of low-rise commercial buildings on the northeast corner of Spadina Avenue and D\u2019Arcy Street, over the past several months, bricklaying has advanced up the the mixed-use project designed by Montgomery Sisam Architects<\/a> for Podium Developments<\/a>.<\/p>\n Looking east across Spadina Avenue in July, 2025, the first several levels of masonry work were in place along the north elevation. Above, a suspended work platform supported by pairs of twin mast climbers extends outward for bricklayers to continue their work.<\/p>\n Looking southeast in September, 2025, bricklaying climbed to the sixth floor on the west elevation, with mast climbers and suspended platforms positioned at the seventh. The second level remains covered in white weatherproofing membrane, marking the future location of the architectural stone and granite base that will define the commercial frontage along Spadina Avenue. Floors three to six are wrapped in an orange-red coursing pattern consistent with the building\u2019s warehouse-inspired design.<\/p>\n By early October, 2025, the west elevation’s lower volume is now fully clad in brick. The upper floors will feature grey metal panel cladding transitioning to white cladding for the top levels.Positioned side by side along the south elevation, the construction hoist and crane dominate the view. Two mast climbers rise to the left of the crane, prepared for upcoming bricklaying along the south elevation.<\/p>\n A high-vantage point southwestward view from this month shows 315 Spadina standing above the surrounding Chinatown streetscape, with the crane now removed as exterior finishing advances. The east elevation reveals brick installation across north and south ends of the podium, while blue and white weatherproofing layers remain exposed on portions of the central and upper volumes, zones still awaiting cladding installation.\u00a0<\/p>\n Once complete, the 46.91m-tall building will deliver 219 new rental homes, including 22 affordable units.\u00a0<\/p>\n UrbanToronto will continue to follow progress on this development, but in the meantime, you can learn more about it from our Database file, linked below.
