Since UrbanToronto\u2019s last update in July, 2025<\/a>, cladding installation at KING Toronto<\/a> has advanced across nearly all outward-facing elevations. The 16-storey Bjarke Ingels Group<\/a>\u2013designed development from Westbank Corp<\/a> and Allied Properties REIT<\/a> continues to take shape in the King\u2013Spadina area. Much of this progress has been closely followed by seasoned development watcher ‘AHK’ on the UrbanToronto Forum, whose day-to-day observations have captured the steady wrapping of the exteriors and the extensive (but largely hidden) cladding progress around the interior courtyard.<\/p>\n The enclosure of Level 4 has also progressed along the King Street frontage, where below, crew members are positioning a prefabricated glass-block cladding unit against the slab edge of one of the projecting bays. The panel is being guided into place by a worker on the floor above while another aligns it at its base, with AHK noting that this elevation is among the last remaining exterior areas to reach full coverage on the fourth floor.\u00a0<\/p>\n Below, crews work to align a prefabricated corner connections piece against the level 4 slab edge, which AHK describes as an \u201coccasional instance of fits and starts.\u201d As he explains, \u201cConcrete forming is not an entirely precise process, with wooden forms placed manually in position for each pour on site, in varying weather conditions,\u201d while \u201cfabrication of the cladding sections is done on a much more precise basis\u2026inside a workshop.\u201d The image shows that contrast in real time, in a mismatch that AHK notes can occur \u201cin particular with the alignment of the respective mounting brackets.\u201d This was one of the sections that \u201cdid not seem to want to anchor with the concrete\u201d, and which was soon removed for adjustments before being successfully reattached along with adjoingin units.<\/p>\n On the Wellington-facing south facade, enclosure advances with the installation of a large prefabricated window-and-glass-block assembly, seen here being hoisted into position as crews guide it toward its slab-edge brackets. AHK notes that progress is strong enough that fifth-floor work should begin in the coming weeks, likely starting in the interior courtyard where activity is often well ahead of the street-facing elevations.<\/p>\n A glass-block and glazing assembly is lifted into place on the east facade, below, illustrating what AHK describes as a period when \u201ccladding and glazing activities are continuing to move very quickly.\u201d Crews guide the prefabricated unit toward its slab-edge brackets, where progress is \u201climited due to the presence of the heritage building masonry scaffolding.\u201d AHK further notes that \u201cLevel 4 cladding has now been completed along the entire south facade, and has moved around to the south corner of the east facade.\u201d Below, the brick wall of the heritage structure marks the area where, as he reports, \u201cat least one section of the ground level east wall has been opened up, while masonry work is being done in other areas of the wall,\u201d even though this activity remains concealed behind blue mesh along the perimeter.<\/p>\n Finally, the south facade reveals the mostly completed cladding for the fourth floor, with sections awaiting glazing installation:<\/p>\n Once complete, KING Toronto will introduce 440 condominium units to the area.<\/p>\n UrbanToronto will continue to follow progress on this development, but in the meantime, you can learn more about it from our Database file, linked below.
