{"id":33444,"date":"2025-11-30T23:47:41","date_gmt":"2025-12-01T07:47:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/essential.construction\/news\/ontario-proposes-major-land-transfers-to-unlock-housing-for-barrie-area\/"},"modified":"2025-11-30T23:47:41","modified_gmt":"2025-12-01T07:47:41","slug":"ontario-proposes-major-land-transfers-to-unlock-housing-for-barrie-area","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/essential.construction\/news\/ontario-proposes-major-land-transfers-to-unlock-housing-for-barrie-area\/","title":{"rendered":"Ontario proposes major land transfers to \u2018unlock\u2019 housing for Barrie-area"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> [ad_1]<br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>TORONTO\u00a0\u2014\u00a0The Ontario government has introduced the\u00a0Barrie-Oro-Medonte-Springwater\u00a0Boundary Adjustment Act,\u00a02025\u00a0that would, if passed, transfer approximately 1,673 hectares of land in the Townships of Oro-Medonte and Springwater to the City of Barrie.<\/p>\n<p>According to the province, this would \u201cunlock up to 8,000 new homes, allow for major economic investments to continue and align with key transportation infrastructure projects, such as the Barrie\u00a0GO\u00a0Line expansion and the Bradford Bypass.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Office of the Provincial Land and Development Facilitator (OPLDF) would facilitate discussions among the municipalities on the best way to implement the legislation, including financial compensation from the City of Barrie.
