Construction has now risen above grade at 241 Church<\/a>, on its way to being a 53-storey purpose-built rental tower from Graywood Developments<\/a>. Designed by Turner Fleischer Architects<\/a>, the building is beginning to rise at the busy Church and Dundas intersection in Downtown Toronto, right across the street from Toronto Metropolitan University<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>Daphne Cockwell Health Sciences Complex<\/a>.<\/span> UrbanToronto\u2019s last update was in June, 2025<\/a>, when the crane was newly installed.<\/p>\n A high-angle view from July, 2025 shows the excavation footprint clearly defined between Dundas Street East on the left and Church Street on the right. The crane\u2019s white mast and orange jib stand in the centre. Below, forming is advancing for the two underground levels. To the right of the crane, formwork panels are in place, while closer to the mast are freshly formed concrete walls.\u00a0<\/p>\n An east-facing view into the pit shows the crane hoisting a concrete bucket above formwork. Stacked panels, rebar, and other materials are staged nearby. Surrounding the pit we see sections of two types of shoring; both timber lagging and steel soldiers pies braced by tiebacks to the left, while the south-end east wall and south wall are concrete caisson, protected with black waterproofing membrane and orange tarp.<\/p>\n By October, 2025, construction was about to reach grade, with the P1 level advancing around the crane and formwork panels in place for upcoming concrete wall pours. To the right, dense horizontal rebar mats are staged for the upcoming ground floor slab. Hoarding lines the east and south perimeters, where sheltered walkways and stair towers provide access to an elevated staging platform.<\/p>\n A west-facing view from Dalhousie Street in November, 2025, shows the structure above grade, with large wall-form panels now in place for the ground floor. Stacked yellow forming panels and other bundled materials occupy the foreground. This east elevation is where the building\u2019s loading and parking garage entrance will eventually be built. To the left, we see the covered walkway and hoarding along Dundas Street East, with the residential entrance to be located along that south elevation.<\/p>\n An eastward view across the site shows poured concrete columns and rebar cages. To the left, a mat of rebar prepares for the next section of the ground floor slab that will anchor the future retail frontage along Church Street.\u00a0<\/p>\n This month, a southwest-facing look shows 241 Church now standing one storey above grade, with decking in place for the upcoming second-floor slab pour. Red shoring posts support the temporary deck, while materials are staged along the podium edge behind fencing to the east. The ground floor is partly wrapped in weather protection near Dundas Street East.\u00a0<\/p>\n As the podium rises, it will eventually feature dark grey brick, bronze metal panels, and alternating light and dark grey spandrel. 241 Church is planned to reach 170.7m with 591 rental units, targeting occupancy in Q1 2028.<\/p>\n UrbanToronto will continue to follow progress on this development, but in the meantime, you can learn more about it from our Database file, linked below.
