The 110,000 sq ft Brunswick Street scheme for the Government Property Agency will run for around two years, with the hub expected to be ready for occupation in early 2028.<\/p>\n
Kier has already been active on the site since September, carrying out ground remediation to strip out legacy fuel tanks and concrete slabs. That enabling package is due to complete by mid-January, clearing the way for the main build.<\/p>\n
Offsite manufacture will underpin delivery of the town centre scheme. Kier\u2019s in-house mechanical and electrical team is prefabricating key elements such as service risers to cut site labour and reduce programme risk.<\/p>\n
The fa\u00e7ade will also be largely pre-cast concrete panels with vertical brick piers and deep-set windows.<\/p>\n The project has been designed by AtkinsRealis<\/span><\/span> and is targeting BREEAM Excellent, an EPC A rating and a NABERS 5-star score for operational energy performance.<\/p>\n The Darlington scheme is a flagship part of the Government Hubs Programme, which aims to consolidate civil service offices into modern, energy-efficient buildings while supporting regional economic growth through the redevelopment of brownfield sites.<\/p>\n Once complete, the building will become the permanent base for the Darlington Economic Campus, bringing together more than 1,600 civil servants from departments including HM Treasury, the Office for National Statistics and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n![\"-\"](\"https:\/\/www.constructionenquirer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Screenshot-2024-08-07-at-18.44.36.png\")
