The commercial\u00a0portion\u00a0was up 35%\u00a0and\u00a0the institutional\u00a0portion\u00a0was up 43% over the same period.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cNonresidential construction\u00a0starts\u00a0(excluding manufacturing and transportation)\u00a0are\u00a0projected to\u00a0accelerate in 2027 alongside sustained\u00a0planning\u00a0momentum in data center, healthcare and recreational\u00a0building\u00a0construction\u00a0throughout 2025,\u201d\u00a0stated\u00a0Sarah Martin, Associate Director of Forecasting at Dodge Construction Network.\u00a0\u201cInflationary pressures will\u00a0further support nominal activity levels, even as\u00a0economic risks\u00a0remain\u00a0elevated. Notably, projects moved through the planning process marginally quicker in\u00a025-Q4\u00a0(16 months vs.\u00a018 months\u00a0in 25-Q3), offering a modest boost to our near-term\u00a0outlook.\u201d<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">On the commercial side, planning momentum accelerated most strongly for warehouses, office\u00a0buildings\u00a0and data centers. Within institutional planning, education and recreational building activity showed the strongest growth, while planning for public buildings pulled back after elevated activity in mid-2025.\u00a0Year-over-year, the\u00a0DMI\u00a0was up\u00a050% when compared to\u00a0December\u00a02024. The commercial segment was up\u00a045%\u00a0(+30% when data centers are removed)\u00a0and\u00a0the institutional segment was up\u00a060% over the same period.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">A total of\u00a034\u00a0projects valued at $100 million or more\u00a0entered\u00a0planning throughout\u00a0December.\u00a0The largest commercial projects\u00a0included\u00a0four phases of the Google Data Center Campus in Summit, Oklahoma \u2013 each valued at $500 million dollars.
