MARKHAM, ONT. \u2014 CES Transformers recently celebrated the grand opening of its expanded facility in Markham.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The new 160,000-square-foot\u00a0manufacturing\u00a0facility\u00a0is set to create\u00a0more than 150 new jobs in the area by 2030, a release reads, and will\u00a0more than triple\u00a0its current production capacity.<\/p>\n
\u201cCanada\u2019s electricity demand is projected to double or even triple by 2050, and meeting that challenge requires a strong, domestic supply chain,\u201d said Adam Byrk, president of CES Transformers, in a statement.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur expanded facility ensures we can deliver customized, high-quality transformers right here at home \u2014 supporting customers, creating jobs and strengthening the grid for decades to come.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
In recent years, a shortage of transformers was recognized as a significant bottleneck in the supply chain, the release notes, limiting the country\u2019s ability to meet energy infrastructure goals.<\/p>\n
CES invested close to $100 million to\u00a0meet this need.
