OTTAWA \u2014 Canada\u2019s premiers meet with Prime Minister Mark Carney later today with the renewal of North America\u2019s trilateral free trade agreement casting a shadow over the meeting.<\/p>\n
Canada, the United States and Mexico are entering into a review of the trade pact this year and U.S. President Donald Trump is already threatening new tariffs.<\/p>\n
Ontario Premier Doug Ford and New Brunswick Premier Susan Holt both said Wednesday they agree with Carney\u2019s recent suggestion that \u201calmost nothing is normal\u201d right now with the United States.<\/p>\n
Premiers are looking to present a united \u201cTeam Canada\u201d front, though ongoing interprovincial tensions are causing some tension.<\/p>\n
Key among them is B.C.\u2019s frustration with Ottawa\u2019s endorsement of a possible pipeline to the West Coast.<\/p>\n
Alberta Premier Danielle Smith told reporters asking about the prospect of a new pipeline Wednesday that she saw signs of \u201cprogress\u201d and that talks with B.C. Premier David Eby and Carney went very well.<\/p>\n
