Rising on the east side of Downtown Toronto, Alias<\/a> has advanced closer to the finish line since UrbanToronto\u2019s last update in June, 2025<\/a>, with the crane removed and the exterior envelope now largely complete. Developed by Madison Group<\/a> and designed by Teeple Architects<\/a> with Turner Fleischer<\/a> as Architect of Record, the 48-storey condominium tower stands at the corner of Church and Richmond streets, where its dark curtain wall and black masonry podium reach around the retained McVeigh\u2019s Pub at grade.\u00a0<\/p>\n In September, 2025, Alias was photograped structurally topped out, with the concrete frame complete through to the mechanical penthouse, with perimeter window wall largely installed, leaving only the uppermost floor awaiting final cladding. The dark cladding with pronounced frames and occasional gold highlights articulates the tower’s massing. A full-height construction hoist remains fixed to the south elevation, and the tower crane is still standing overhead ahead of demobilization.<\/p>\n Caught in November, 2025, the crane is being dismantled. A smaller derrick is mounted near the roofline to facilitate the controlled lowering of mast sections, while at grade, a yellow mobile crane extends its telescopic boom upward to receive the components. The tower\u2019s west elevation reads as largely complete, with black brick, some of it glazed for accent, now fully wrapping the podium.\u00a0<\/p>\n Looking north a few days later, Alias is shown with the crane fully removed, but still more cladding to complete on the mechanical penthouse. With the dark cladding on the tower floors now complete other than where the construction hoist is still in place, low-angle light dramatically accentuates the gold-rimmed accent frames, clustering more toward the uppermost storeys, more sporadically placed below.<\/p>\n From across the intersection of Richmond and Church streets in January, 2026, podium-level work advances toward completion, with black masonry now applied to the arms of the building on either side of McVeigh’s Pub. Along Church Street to the left, patches of blue and white weatherproofing remain exposed, marking areas still awaiting final exterior finishes. Hoarding continues to line the sidewalk. Above the abutting heritage pub, a stack of inset corner balconies extends upwards for seven floors.<\/p>\n This month, the north elevation shows the residential envelope fully enclosed, with cladding complete across all occupied floors, while the mechanical penthouse still awaits its finishes. The tower\u2019s window wall presents a tightly spaced vertical grid of glazing and mullions, giving the facade a uniform expression. The randomized gold frames are difficult to spot in this lighting. Window-wall glazing appears consistent across the elevation, with clear vision glass set between darker spandrel panels.<\/p>\n Alias stands 160.52m and will deliver 592 condominium units upon completion.<\/p>\n UrbanToronto will continue to follow progress on this development, but in the meantime, you can learn more about it from our Database file, linked below.
