Over the month, commercial planning fell 8.9%, and institutional planning momentum slowed by 4.0%. <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cPlanning momentum\u00a0continued\u00a0to normalize\u00a0in February\u00a0after\u00a0a surge in activity\u00a0in the back half of 2025,\u201d\u00a0said Sarah Martin, Associate Director of Forecasting at Dodge Construction Network. \u201cElevated risks around costs, labor, and geopolitics will continue to constrain\u00a0builder\u00a0confidence in the near-term but the robust planning pipeline suggests an acceleration in construction spending in 2027.\u201d<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">On the commercial side,\u00a0planning momentum slowed across all commercial sectors apart from\u00a0warehouses.\u00a0Within institutional planning,\u00a0all sectors slowed down with public buildings facing the largest contraction.\u00a0Despite widespread declines, project momentum for retail stores, recreational buildings, data\u00a0centers\u00a0and healthcare facilities\u00a0remain\u00a0elevated.\u00a0Year-over-year, the DMI was up\u00a018.7% when compared to\u00a0February\u00a02025.
