The partnership will drive the next phase of schemes under the council\u2019s This City housing company, targeting a pipeline of seven sites in north, east and central Manchester.<\/p>\n
The collaboration agreement will go before the council\u2019s executive for approval at the end of this week.<\/p>\n
The next scheme set to move forward under the programme will be a 126-home development on Postal Street in the Northern Quarter.<\/p>\n
Demolition of a former single-storey commercial building on the site has already been completed, clearing the way for detailed design work ahead of a formal planning application. Construction is expected to start in 2027.<\/p>\n
The wider This City pipeline includes five additional council-owned sites spread across north and east Manchester.<\/p>\n
These include a major four-phase scheme at Monsall in Harpurhey expected to deliver more than 650 homes, alongside smaller developments in Longsight, Ardwick and Ancoats.<\/p>\n
The programme builds on the completion of the first This City project at No.1 Ancoats Green last year, which delivered 129 homes including 30% capped at Manchester Living Rent.<\/p>\n

Council leader Bev Craig said the pension fund partnership would help accelerate development of council land while ensuring a portion of homes remain affordable.<\/p>\n
