{"id":35361,"date":"2026-05-10T06:12:26","date_gmt":"2026-05-10T13:12:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/essential.construction\/news\/ontario-launches-10-year-forestry-roadmap\/"},"modified":"2026-05-10T06:12:26","modified_gmt":"2026-05-10T13:12:26","slug":"ontario-launches-10-year-forestry-roadmap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/essential.construction\/news\/ontario-launches-10-year-forestry-roadmap\/","title":{"rendered":"Ontario launches 10-year forestry roadmap"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> [ad_1]<br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>TORONTO\u00a0\u2014 The Ontario government is getting to the root of the matter by recently launching the\u00a0<a rel=\"noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/ontario.ca\/files\/2026-04\/mnr-forestry-roadmap-en-2026-04-24.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Roadmap to Protecting Ontario\u2019s Forest Sector<\/a>, a 10-year path that aims to protect the workers, businesses, families and communities of the province\u2019s forestry sector.<\/p>\n<p>The sector generates close to $21 billion in revenue and supports over 154,000 jobs across the province, explains a release.<\/p>\n<p>But with 97 per cent of its forest product exports going to the United States, the U.S. duties and tariffs pose an immediate threat.<\/p>\n<p>The government\u2019s plan features three pillars:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Defend <\/strong>workers, communities and businesses by reducing the impact of U.S. tariffs and duties, working with the federal government to keep critical mills operating and promoting Ontario forestry and forest products.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Adapt <\/strong>the forest sector to be more competitive in the global market while safeguarding the long-term sustainability of Ontario\u2019s forests by reducing regulatory burden.
