The event also raised $18,000 for the food bank.<\/p>\n<p>Canstruction Toronto was founded in 1999. Each year, teams of designers, architects, engineers and contractors, donate their time and talents to build the sculptures from canned food, which are then displayed in the TD center in downtown Toronto.<\/p>\n<p>Here are this year\u2019s winners:<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Best Original Design \u2013 KPMB, PCL Construction and Entuitive \u2013 CAN-do Kindness<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Total cans: 5,988<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This design submission features \u201cMiffy,\u201d which was created in 1955 by Dutch artist and illustrator Dick Bruna. The character was inspired by the stories he told his young son about a little rabbit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn this playful CANvas, white tuna cans come together to form Miffy\u2019s silhouette, with yellow cans shaping her dress and red tomato cans building her wagon,\u201d reads a description. \u201cGreen beans create a soft, meadow-like setting, while red and orange cans suggest flowers scattered throughout, adding warmth and texture.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Best Meal \u2013 RJC Engineers \u2013 Every Catch Counts<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Total cans: 11,530<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This sculpture features a poignant remark: \u201cLike a bear catching fish to survive, every meal matters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor many in our community, that same sense of survival is a daily reality \u2014 but without the certainty of a catch. Access to food isn\u2019t guaranteed.
