Since Oaktree invested in Aecon Utilities in late 2023, the business has expanded its presence in electrical infrastructure and U.S. markets, with most of its work supported by long-term master service agreements.<\/p>\n<p>Aecon said the acquisition will strengthen its integrated \u201cOne Aecon\u201d delivery model by creating closer alignment between its utilities operations, broader construction business and concessions segment. The simplified ownership structure is also expected to improve financial flexibility and support future investment in operations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis transaction accelerates Aecon\u2019s overall growth in target markets, augments our self-perform offering with cross-selling opportunities and enhances our ability to expand into growing regions with attractive project pipelines under a \u2018One Aecon\u2019 approach,\u201d says Jean-Louis Servranckz, President and Chief Executive Officer of Aecon.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Implications for contractors<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>For general contractors, the announcement reflects continued momentum in utility infrastructure investment, driven by power transmission expansion, communications networks, pipeline renewal and data-centre-related electrical demand.
