{"id":5462,"date":"2021-06-10T17:13:32","date_gmt":"2021-06-11T00:13:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.daily.construction\/?p=5462"},"modified":"2022-01-06T11:42:45","modified_gmt":"2022-01-06T19:42:45","slug":"rhino-doors-signs-contract-for-londons-bank-station","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/essential.construction\/news\/rhino-doors-signs-contract-for-londons-bank-station\/","title":{"rendered":"Rhino Doors signs contract for London\u2019s Bank Station"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Rhino Doors, the UK\u2019s leading designer and manufacturer of\u00a0high performance\u00a0engineered doors, has won a new contract valued at over \u00a31\u00a0million to design, supply and install bespoke fire doors\u00a0for\u00a0London\u2019s\u00a0Bank Station Capacity Upgrade Project.<\/p>\n<p>Working alongside\u00a0leading engineering and construction contractor\u00a0Dragados\u00a0S.A,\u00a0Rhino will install 18 double leaf,\u00a0oversized\u00a0latchless\u00a0fire doors\u00a0which will self-close to provide a barrier against smoke and 60\u00a0minutes of integrity fire resistance from either side.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0stainless-steel\u00a0doors, usually held in the open position\u00a0by\u00a0electromagnets, will\u00a0provide\u00a0protected escape routes and places\u00a0of refuge\u00a0for passengers\u00a0passing\u00a0through\u00a0one of\u00a0London\u2019s\u00a0\u00a0busiest interchange\u00a0stations\u00a0on the\u00a0underground network\u00a0in\u00a0an\u00a0emergency situation.<\/p>\n<p>Stuart Lawrence, Managing Director of Rhino Doors, said:\u00a0\u201cWe\u2019re pleased to have secured this contract and to\u00a0be working alongside Dragados\u00a0to\u00a0improve\u00a0passenger safety at Bank\u00a0Station.\u00a0The contract award follows a period of development, during which\u00a0we have worked closely with the team at Dragados to meet the challenging performance requirements set.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt Rhino, we pride ourselves on creating bespoke doors that meet complex and varied industry standards,\u00a0and this project is a testament to the high level of design and manufacturing expertise we provide to the transport sector.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Due to the complex nature of the\u00a0project, site installation will be performed within restricted\u00a0hours, including engineering hours, when\u00a0no trains are running\u00a0to ensure the safety of our engineers.<\/p>\n<p>The Bank Station Capacity Upgrade project, currently underway in the heart of\u00a0London\u2019s financial district,\u00a0will increase capacity by approximately\u00a040%\u00a0and include\u00a0a\u00a0new\u00a0passenger and running\u00a0tunnel and\u00a0a new\u00a0southbound\u00a0platform for the Northern Line.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About Rhino Doors\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Established in 1983, Rhino Doors have worked to develop a unique door design that was quickly recognised by UK industry leaders.
