Mask use and social distance arrangements help but another improvement in the location might add to the reassurance: air conditioning with disinfection.<\/p>\n<p>Given the emerging research indicating airborne transmission of coronavirus, enhanced environmental hygiene initiatives\u2014for complete protection\u2014should include both surface and air disinfection. Air disinfection\u00a0in high-touch areas like lobbies, reception desks, hotels, restaurants, exercise facilities, medical facilities, and other public spaces should also be considered.<\/p>\n<p>Research shows that germicidal UV (ultraviolet) light can effectively inactivate airborne microbes that transmit\u00a0measles,\u00a0tuberculosis\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/15350737\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">SARS-CoV-1<\/a>, a close relative of the novel coronavirus which causes COVID-19. Applying UV in expansive areas, such as dining rooms, hospital rooms, and hotels has been gaining traction in light of the coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jacconstructionllc.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">JAC Construction<\/a>, Temecula, Calif.,\u00a0and its sister company <a href=\"http:\/\/www.level3designgroup.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Level 3 Design Group\u00a0<\/a>have partnered with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uvdi.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ultraviolet Devices<\/a>, Valencia, Calif. and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1ics.net\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Industrial Commercial Systems,\u00a0<\/a>Vista, Calif., to bring their advanced UV-C Air Disinfection products to hospitality and commercial markets. The program,\u00a0called StayProtected, is\u00a0a comprehensive approach that combines Ultraviolet Devices\u2019 technology along with holistic methods to help prevent airborne transmission of viruses, including coronavirus.\u00a0<span>Alen Cooper<\/span>, president, JAC, is spearheading the program.<\/p>\n<p>JAC and Level-3 will deploy the Ultraviolet Devices UV-C Air Disinfection portfolio into leading hospitality and commercial sites.\u00a0Scientific evaluation of the approach shows 99% coronavirus inactivation, in independent laboratory testing, against harder-to-kill bacterial and virus surrogates and meets the CDC and ASHRAE Airborne Infection Control guidelines.\u00a0 Ultraviolet Devices\u2019 proprietary software system incorporates exact air system properties to output the custom lamp configuration and intensity needed to inactivate coronavirus.<\/p>\n<p><em>Want to tweet about this article?
