Full Description
Scaffolding is one of the most common pieces of building equipment used on construction sites. It comes in many forms including wood, steel and even bamboo. Despite it’s wide spread use it can be very dangerous if not properly assembled. In order to ensure workers are safe while using scaffold preparing a safe work procedure in advance is critical. What is a scaffolding safe work procedure and when should you use it on a construction site?
A safe work procedure for scaffolding is a form that is completed on construction sites by workers and their supervisors before they access scaffolding. It’s purpose is to do a general review of safety hazards to determine if any exist, and how ready the equipment is for use.
Prior to use, the worker reviews the checklist. In the event of deficient items they either address them or bring them to their supervisors attention. Proper training and planning must go into the work before the checklist is given to the worker.
This check list template focuses on small, mobile scaffolds often referred to as baker scaffolding. It includes the following fields:
- Questions on training
- Questions on tie offs
- Questions on the actual scaffolding
- Questions on the surrounding area
- Construction project name and number
- Date inspected
- Location inspected
- Inspection team
This form has been created in Microsoft Excel but any modern day spreadsheet software should be able to open it.
