Workers showing up on a construction site are required by law to receive a safety orientation. The construction safety orientation has become a standard and minimum requirement in the industry. But what exactly is a safety orientation, how is it used and what are the topics that should be addressed?
A safety orientation is a presentation that is given by a supervisor when a worker shows up on a new construction site. The goal of any safety orientation is to educate and inform the worker of potential health and safety hazards and precautionary procedures related to the specific site and work being performed. A safety orientation should be given when workers show up on site for the first time.
It is important that during the course of the safety orientation a set agenda or template is followed by the project supervisor to ensure that all of the important information is covered.
