We recently had a delivery of tile that we were expecting to show up on site last week. We had been taking them at their word, but after the tile didn’t show up we found out that the tile was still on a boat out in the ocean. Does anyone have any advice on what the best and most transparent way is to track material deliveries to site?

For our mission critical deliveries we ask the subcontractors for tracking numbers immediately upon release of the material. We than take this tracking number and put it in a spreadsheet and our coordinator checks it once a week.
We find this helps minimize the risk of surprises for us!
