Term:Mag Lock

A mag lock or electromagnetic lock is a piece of door hardware designed to be installed at the top of a door. The mag lock is a magnet that when energized holds the door closed.

Typically mag locks are installed in areas where the path of emergency egress cannot be blocked but require security. In the event of fire alarm the mag lock is disengaged and door can open freely.
