Platform Insurance Management Inc. recently announced the expansion of its Construction Industry Group with the addition of Jason Smith and Steve Stahl as senior vice-presidents. The national, privately owned Canadian brokerage that specializes in insurance, surety, sub-default insurance and benefit solutions says Smith and Stahl bring expertise that will strengthen the company’s growing presence in Western Canada. Both leaders will be based in the company’s soon-to-open Edmonton office.

Smith has more than 25 years of experience in surety and construction risk and is a trusted advisor to contractors across Canada. A recipient of the Surety Association of Canada’s President’s Award, he has held key influential leadership roles within industry organizations and played a pivotal role in securing complex surety placements. Smith has also served on multiple industry committees, including with the Alberta Roadbuilders & Heavy Construction Association, Edmonton Construction Association, Construction Financial Management Association and Surety Association of Canada.

Stahl is a passionate advocate for innovation in surety and has a special interest in developing cutting-edge tools that simplify bond processes and provide contractors with real-time insights into their bond facilities. The brokerage says Stahl’s proactive approach to educating and empowering construction firms aligns with its mission to streamline risk management for the built environment.
