Three months after UrbanToronto’s last update, One Delisle from Slate Asset Management continues its ascent above Yonge and Delisle in Toronto’s Deer Park neighbourhood, with the tower’s signature geometry becoming more defined as it rises. Designed by Jeanne Gang of Studio Gang Architects with WZMH Architects as Architect of Record, the 44-storey condominium is gradually taking on its sculptural character, featuring staggered eight-storey volumetric modules that rotate incrementally, and which will give the tower its distinctive fluted profile and transitioning it from a square podium at ground level to a near-cylindrical form at its peak.
One Delisle has reached its 25th storey, with formwork and decking underway for the 26th floor slab. Looking east along Delisle Avenue this month, cladding has advanced to the top of the second set of staggered modules, with glazing now reaching as high as the 12th floor. The cladding panels frame alternating zones of inset balconies and dark-tinted glazing, establishing the fluted profile. The incrementally modified floor-plates of the storeys above hint at the gradual rounding of the form.
Seen from the northeast corner of Yonge and Delisle, the north and east elevations display the faceted configuration of the cladding, with projecting bays aligning to Toronto’s grid at the base. Cladding is interrupted remain around the hoist where installation will have to wait until the temporary vertical transportation is no longer needed. The rectilinear concrete framing for the ground floor awaits cladding, with both modern and reconstruction heritage sections to be applied over the construction process.
This head-on view of the east elevation along Yonge Street offers a detailed look at the evolving geometry and facade articulation. Slab rotation is increasingly legible on the upper floors, while below, installation continues for the glazing and black aluminum spandrel panels.
A close-up of the southeast corner captures cladding installation underway. Crew members are seen guiding a hoisted angled aluminum panel into place. Workers above are coordinating the positioning, while those below will secure and adjust the panel at the anchoring points. Exposed insulation is visible behind the panel.
In this follow-up image, the same panel is being carefully aligned in preparation to be fastened to the substructure. The panel’s tapered profile merges with the adjacent units, as each unit interfaces with adjoining curtain wall glazing and precast elements.
This close-up along the west elevation highlights the joinery of its textured aluminum cladding system, final alignment still in progress, the vertical and diagonal seams emphasizing the tower’s geometric intricacy. Mounted within a panel assembly is a directional floodlight fixture, a compact, surface-mounted unit that will provide architectural uplighting with minimal clutter.
Once complete, One Delisle will rise 155m and contain 371 residential units.
