Hazelview Investments has introduced the Hazelview Cares Foundation, a not-for-profit arm aimed at supporting housing, education and employment, health, and local community programs across the country. The foundation builds on Hazelview’s longstanding presence in Canadian rental communities, providing funding for initiatives such as BGC Ottawa, HammerHeads, and scholarship programs at several universities and colleges. Its launch coincides with a national Giving Tuesday campaign, during which Hazelview will match employee donations to help expand the foundation’s early impact.
Arcadis and Spanier Group Form Alliance on Mixed-Use City-Building
Arcadis has entered a strategic partnership with Spanier Group to advance sustainable mixed-use development and social infrastructure across Toronto and the Greater Golden Horseshoe. The collaboration, launched under Arcadis’ Global Cities Program and led locally by newly appointed Toronto City Executive Scott Arbuckle, focuses on delivering people-centred communities aligned with municipal and federal housing priorities. The alliance formalizes a long-standing working relationship between the firms, expanding their joint capacity to support major urban projects in Vaughan, Mississauga, Toronto, and other markets.
GTA Home Sales Decline in November
TRREB reported 5,010 home sales across the GTA in November, a 15.8% decrease from the previous year as many buyers continued to wait for clearer economic signals. New listings also fell year-over-year, while both the MLS Home Price Index Composite and the average selling price recorded mid-single-digit declines. Month-to-month figures showed minimal movement, with sales and listings edging down and prices remaining broadly in line with October levels.
GTA New Home Sales Reach New Lows in October
Altus Group’s latest market report for BILD shows new home sales across the GTA falling below last year’s record low for October, with only 248 new condominium units and 322 single-family homes sold region-wide. In Toronto, just 54 new condominium sales were recorded across all districts, reflecting buyers’ caution amid higher costs and limited qualifying conditions. Inventory remains elevated at more than 21,000 units, prompting renewed industry calls for broad cost-reduction measures to stabilize demand and prevent further disruption to the housing supply pipeline.
Argo Launches Smart Routing Pilot in Brampton
Argo has introduced its Smart Routing on-demand transit service in Downtown Brampton, offering fully electric vehicles that connect directly to Brampton Transit and GO Transit through PRESTO fare integration. The 12-month pilot provides weekday service with real-time routing and near-door pickup, positioned as a first- and last-mile complement to the city’s broader network. The launch follows strong ridership results from earlier pilots, with the Brampton program marking the first implementation of PRESTO-enabled Argo vehicles under Ontario’s One Fare framework.
Brampton Begins Construction on Riverwalk Flood Protection Project
The City of Brampton has commenced work on the first phase of Riverwalk, a major flood protection initiative designed to safeguard the downtown core and unlock long-constrained redevelopment sites. Phase One will deepen and widen the Etobicoke Creek channel to exceed provincial flood standards, forming the foundation for new housing, commercial space, and public realm improvements planned for later stages. Supported by all three levels of government, the project is scheduled to advance into full construction in early 2026 and positions Riverwalk as a central driver of Brampton’s long-term downtown revitalization.
The Bentway Appoints Ilana Altman as CEO
The Bentway has promoted Ilana Altman to CEO, recognizing her leadership in expanding the organization’s artistic programming and its role in reimagining public space beneath and beyond the Gardiner Expressway. TRREB has begun Your Voice, Our Future, a large-scale consultation initiative designed to gather feedback from its more than 70,000 members on services, governance, and organizational priorities. The campaign opens with an independent survey led by Pollara Strategic Insights and will expand in the new year to include focus groups and town halls across the membership. Insights gathered through the process are intended to inform future decision-making and strengthen the board’s alignment with the needs of real estate professionals.

BILD’s Nominating and Governance Committee is inviting submissions for its 2026 Lifetime Achievement Award, the association’s highest honour recognizing long-standing leadership in the residential construction sector. Nominees must demonstrate decades of industry involvement, strong ethical and community commitments, and meaningful volunteer contributions to BILD, OHBA, or CHBA. Nominations are due December 19, with the selected recipient to be recognized at the 2026 BILD Awards next May.
BILD to Host Winter Social for Renovators and Custom Builders
BILD members in the renovation and custom homebuilding sector are invited to a December 9 winter social at Petros82’s Lefko Lounge, offering an informal setting for networking and year-end celebrations. The event is free for members and provides an opportunity to reconnect with peers in one of Downtown Toronto’s notable hospitality venues. The gathering aims to close out the year with a focus on community-building and industry engagement.
