The contractor beat off competition from Vinci, GMI Construction, Goldbeck Construction and Huber Parking UK for the Southern Gateway scheme.

Contract signature is expected at the end of the month following completion of the standstill period.

The project is a critical enabling package within the Temple Quarter masterplan and will shift regulated station parking south, freeing up development land to the north of the station for new homes and commercial space.

Designed by AHR and Arup, the scheme centres on a 379-space car park rising seven storeys.

Alongside it will sit a three-storey cycle pavilion providing more than 530 secure bike spaces.

Public realm between the two buildings will feature hard and soft landscaping, drainage, dwell space and areas for temporary pop-up uses. A new southern walkway and entrance into Temple Meads station will also be created.

Highway works along Bath Road include a segregated full-width footway and two-way cycleway, a new bus stop with layby and a signal-controlled junction into the car park. A Network Rail service yard and relocated RRAP also form part of the package.

The job is being procured by Bristol Temple Quarter LLP, a partnership between Bristol City Council, Homes England and the West of England Combined Authority, with Network Rail acting as a key delivery partner.
