The specialist contractor increased turnover 17% to £136m in the year to March 2026, up from £116m previously, while pre-tax profit climbed 62% to £4.6m from £2.8m.
Operating margin rose to 3.3% from 2.5% a year earlier as project delivery and commercial performance improved across the business.
The 350-strong firm has sharpened its focus around four core divisions, creating dedicated Energy and Water businesses while delivering coasts and ports, infrastructure and building projects through its Southern & South East and Wales regional operations.
Coastal defence and marine infrastructure schemes remained a major growth driver during the year, while Knights Brown also expanded its presence in grid infrastructure, battery storage and renewable energy projects across the UK.
The contractor strengthened its position ahead of the AMP8 spending cycle, securing framework opportunities and building a longer-term pipeline with key water clients.
Knights Brown ended the year with £12.6m in cash and net assets rising to £5.3m from £3.2m, leaving it well placed to fund further growth.
Group managing director Kevin Valentine said: “This has been another very strong year for Knights Brown.
“We’ve remained focused on the markets where we can add real value, particularly in coasts & ports, energy and water, and that clarity is translating into both growth and improved performance.
“Just as importantly, we’ve strengthened the foundations of the business, from our financial position to the way we’re structured to deliver for clients. That puts us in a great position to continue building momentum in the year ahead.”
The firm enters the new financial year with more than half of its planned revenue already secured and expects turnover to climb again following recent contract awards in renewable energy and marine infrastructure.
