Yesterday we took a look at the former LCBO warehouse coming down near Toronto Harbour, just east of Yonge Street. In today’s Daily Photo, below, that same building runs along the lower right side of this image, taken by UrbanToronto Forum contributor dufferin1. To the left is the former LCBO head office, while in the background rise the first two towers of Menkes’ Sugar Wharf Condominiums, now topped off but still under construction.

On this site in the foreground, where the former head offices and warehouse have been standing, will rise the third through fifth towers of Sugar Wharf Condominiums. Not everything you see here, however, is coming down so that the new towers can go up; the outer walls of the head offices building will be maintained as a podium, while the northern wall of the warehouse building to the right will be saved as part of another podium so that the space between the former buildings maintains it aged look.

Also staying will be the copper-covered bridge that dominates this photo. It will be joined by three new glass bridges behind it as redevelopment progresses and modern uses take over… but the copper covered bridge here will always be a link to the past for this majorly transformed complex.
