Love Park officially opens today at York and Harbour streets in Downtown Toronto. Where there was once a spiral offramp from the Gardiner Expressway is now an oasis of green, red, and reflected sky in the waters of the heart-shaped pond at the park’s centre. Along the red mosaic rim of the pond, as per this image by UrbanToronto Forum contributor FC_, are a number of bronze animals, including this chipmunk, who has been hoarding hearts in place of nuts. We’ll have a full story later today, along with an interview with park designer Claude Cormier.
