Of the new bridges in Toronto’s Port Lands, the last to arrive was the first to open: carrying traffic across the new mouth of the Don River (itself not having opened yet), what we thought would be the yellow arches of the Cherry Street South bridge actually look much more golden when reflecting morning sunlight, as is the case in this recent image by UrbanToronto Forum contributor hawc.
Designed and engineered by Entuitive, Grimshaw Architects and SBP, the bridges were constructed in a Halifax shipyard and arrived here by barge. The Cheery Street North bridge is a vibrant red, while the Commissioners Street bridge is a deep orange. Opening dates for those bridges have not been announced.
