With work on the interior of the Scotiabank North Tower pretty much wrapped up, and the three towers of the Bay Adelaide Centre in Downtown Toronto now standing proud in their minimalist glass wraps, work to complete the public realm improvements around the base of the third tower is underway. This has included reworking the park beside the Cloud Gardens (while it and its waterfall remains un-operating and awaiting overhauls) and totally rebuilding Temperance Street between the towers. Temperance was like any other poorly maintained side street downtown — wide enough for parallel parking on the sides plus two traffic lanes down the middle — but the rebuild replaces that with expanded sidewalks and high quality pavers; what was once an utterly unremarkable street is soon to be a destination, and close-able for street parties. This image by image by UrbanToronto Forum contributor ProjectEnd captures the last stages of the upgrades before reopening the street to the public.
