Crystelle Cormier is set to lead the Quebec-based organization promoting the role of women in the construction industry.

The Board of Directors at Elles de la construction (EDLC) has named Crystelle Cormier executive director of the Quebec-based non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the role of women in the construction industry. She succeeds Gaëlle Gilles, who led the organization for the past five years.
Committed to highlighting the contributions of women in the construction sector while working to improve retention rates, Cormier has a broad and ambitious mandate ahead, says the organization. Her long-term mission will include ensuring the sustainability of the organization, developing its financial independence, and building a strong corporate network. She will also aim to significantly increase individual memberships, as women remain underrepresented despite their growing presence in the industry.
Cormier brings extensive experience from a related sector to the new role, having served for more than seven years in employer organization management and governance. This includes four years as CEO of the Association québécoise de la quincaillerie et des matériaux de construction (AQMAT).
She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from HEC Montréal and a graduate diploma in marketing from the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), along with specialized training in crisis management (HEC) and governance (Université Laval).

Founded in 2010, Elles de la construction is a non-profit organization that represents and supports women in the construction industry. It promotes equity and women’s entrepreneurship while fostering constructive collaboration among all players in the sector. The organization works hand-in-hand with men to help shift mindsets and implement solutions that promote a harmonious, respectful, and complementary workplace—contributing to Québec’s economic growth.
