There’s quite the gulf between this spot on the east side of Downtown Toronto and the areas of Canada more widely associated with St Lawrence, but in this image by UrbanToronto Forum contributor mburrrrr, dawn breaks over the neighbourhood indirectly named for the Catholic saint whose feast day it was when Jacques Cartier arrived in the Gulf in 1535. Four hundred and ninety years after the naming, St Lawrence now feels thoroughly Canadian, which is an even larger gulf from his third century origins in Rome.
